Alstom hopes to get the green light from the European Commission for the takeover of Bombardier at the end of the month, the CEO of the French group, Henri Poupart-Lafarge, said on Wednesday before the Economic Affairs Committee of the National Assembly.

Twelve days ago, the Brussels executive postponed its decision on the merger project to July 31 in order to examine the concessions offered by the French group.

Among other concessions, Alstom has offered to sell its Alsatian plant in Reichshoffen, which produces the Coradia Polyvalent regional trains and employs around 800 people.

Alstom wants a “solid” buyer to buy the Alsatian site, Henri Poupart-Lafarge said on Wednesday.
